Amacayacu National Natural Park

Amacayacu is a national park in the Colombian Amazon. You can get there by boat, sailing up the Amazon River from Leticia, the department’s capital.

I traveled with my family, we arrived to Leticia by airplane and then we took a boat to the hotel. There you can find “The Malocas” these are like rooms with many beds and after 10:00 pm, there isn’t electricity. It’s a very different experience but it’s great. Before the trip, the travel agent told us to wear old clothes.

In Amacayacú we did many activities. One day we went to a tree called "jungle canopy", there we climbed using harnesses to the top. However, my parents climbed by a ladder. Aloft, you can see the tops of the trees, and then you must descend by rappelling.

Another activity we did was go swimming with pink dolphins. It was exciting; we went to a lagoon which flows into the Amazon River.

We also went to Puerto Nariño, a small town located two hours by boat from Leticia.

In Leticia I ate a worm called "Mojojoy", I had always wanted to do it. And I met Kapax "King of the Amazon" in the Decameron Hotel, where we were the last night.
